Meet Hamza Daour: Director of Innovation, Inclusion + Engagement

`

Latitude Signage + Design is proud to welcome Hamza Daour to the team as our new Director of Innovation, Inclusion + Engagement! Hamza is the brains behind many of our latest offerings.

3 Things You Should Know about Hamza:

1. His background is in agricultural engineering.

Hamza grew up in Jordan. While he always wanted to be an artist, Hamza is a 6th-generation farmer, and his father encouraged him to explore the ag industry. He graduated from Alexandria University with a degree in agricultural engineering and has worked in the agriculture and horticulture industries worldwide.

As an agricultural engineer and avid learner, Hamza found a passion for building machines.

“Being a good engineer is being a good artist,” Hamza said. “You have to do it from your heart and be persistent to make something work. Art can be brought into anything you’re passionate about.”

2. He brought vertical printing technology, Vertigraphics, to life in the Midwest.

Hamza made his foray into the signage world when he couldn’t create the art he wanted on his son’s bedroom wall.

“We wanted to put a picture on his wall, and we wanted to put a map graphic in my office,” he said. “There was no easy solution to do it right away in an easy way. This is how Vertigraphics started.”

Once Hamza realized the existing solutions to his problem didn’t meet his standards, he found and erected a printing machine that would. The process required trial and error – and a few failed projects – before he started thinking about building a commercial-quality machine.

In the year he’s been working on the machine, Hamza has enhanced the printing quality and expanded the artwork size vertically. Today, Hamza’s Vertigraphics machine can create 3D and shadow effects. Designs can be tweaked on demand and easily apply, move, and remove as needed. Perhaps Hamza’s favorite aspect of Vertigraphics is that it’s a no-waste product, owing to his passion for sustainability.

Vertigraphics technology is still very new, and we are investing heavily in it. In the first quarter of 2025, Latitude will have a Vertigraphics machine that will be 4 times faster. The latest iteration will be more durable and handle much higher resolution.

3. He plans to bring more technology to Latitude’s customers.

“When I first met with the Latitude team, I saw right away that they are the leader in the industry for new project innovation,” Hamza said. “They are open to new ideas and have a big vision for the future.”

In Hamza’s new role with Latitude Signage + Design, his goal is to keep an eye on what’s new in the market, streamline processes, and refine technology to bring customers the best value and highest quality. More products will be launched soon. Stay tuned!
